---------------deutsch weiter unten ------- Take the sinuous road from Mürren to Gimmelwald and enjoy the scenary of white mountain peaks and sheer cliffs while the cable car buzzes occassionally to and from across the trees. Can you imagine that JRR Tolkien wrote about this valley in his book 'The lord of the rings' and called it Rivendell? Alternatively you can also take a short hike from the Cablecar station rounding the corner at Esther’s Guesthouse and climb a few steps to the first waypoint Waypoint 1 (N°46 32.940, E007° 53.515) – This mysterious hotel usually sports a sign closed on the door of the bar, this might not correspond with the actual status. The side of the hotel has a display of characters in two rows. Count those in the left column (A) and those in the right cloumn (B). Walking along the upper street you pass many beautiful barns and chalets in Walser Style, telling their story about the place. Gimmelwald is a Walser settlement with mountain folks coming over the high passes to the south of the village in search for new terrain. The native population that were dwelling in the valley usually left them only the steep and narrow slopes for their cattle and cultivation. But they were laborous and modest. Starting small they soon extended their reaches along both sides of the valley to thrive their farming business. Waypoint 2 (N46°32.743, E007° 53.465)- Now that you have passed the big u-turn at the road’s end you are back on the low street and find this beautiful exhibit at waypoint 2. Water is flowing out of tubes into the bassin. The fountain has a special form, how many horns do you count (C)? The road winds itself down to the big crossroad, pass Dave’s old pension towards the famous mountain hostel. Waypoint 3 (N46° 32.799, E007° 53.592)– While you sit on the terrace and admire the panorama, you should also read the big sign with the history of the place. Why don’t you calculate the cross sum of the year of construction of this house (D)? Final – With A, B, C and D you will find the box hidden in a classic cache location at these co-ordinates (beware of muggles) N46°32. [(50xD)+12x(A+B+C)+9] E007° 53. [(100x(A+B)) + 5x(D+C)+12] ------------- deutsch ----------------- Nimm die gewundene Strasse von Mürren nach Gimmelwald und geniess' die einmalige Bergwelt. Es ist leicht nachvollziehbar, dass JRR Tolkien dieses Tal als 'Bruchtal' im Herr der Ringe verewigt hat. Der Cache kann natürlich auch ausgehend von der Luftseilbahnstation Gimmelwald erforscht werden. Einfach die Strasse rauf, bei Esther's Guesthouse um die Ecke biegen und die Treppenstufen zum Ausgangspunkt hinaufsteigen. Waypoint 1 (N°46 32.940, E007° 53.515) – Dieses geheimnisvolle Hotel hat immer ein Geschlossen-Schild an der Bartüre, das aber nicht der Realität entspricht. Auf der Seite des Hotels hat es Buchstaben in zwei Spalten. Zähle die links (A) und die rechts (B). Spaziere die obere Strasse entlang ins Dorf hinein. Du blickst nun auf die Berge an deren Ende weit hinten im Talgrund Moria liegt (Chilchbalm), doch dies ist eine andere Geschichte. Die Häuser von Gimmelwald sind im tyischen Stil einer Walsersiedlung gebaut und erzählen so die Geschichte dieses Ortes. Gimmelwald ist eine Walser-Siedlung, die ersten Gimmelwalder sind über die hohen Pässe hierhin gezogen und haben von hier aus auch den Ort oberhalb der grossen Wände/Muren (Dorf ob den Muren heisst heute verkürzt Mürren) besiedelt. Die Walser haben als Bergbauern die steilen Talseiten bestellt, die ihnen die Talbevölkerung übrig gelassen hat. Waypoint 2 (N46°32.743, E007° 53.465)- Nach der grossen Kurve geht es an manchem Angebot der Marktfrauen von Gimmelwald vorbei zu diesem Ort. Hier fliesst Wasser aus Rohren und der Brunnen hat eine eigentümliche Form. Wieviele Hörner (C) zählst Du? Die Strasse schlängelt nun zur grossen Kreuzung und hier biegen wir rechts vor Dave's Alter Pension vorbei zum berühmten Mountain Hostel. Waypoint 3 (N46° 32.799, E007° 53.592)– Wenn Du auf der Terasse sitzt und die Bergwelt bestaunst siehst Du dieses Schild, das Dir die Geschichte des Hauses erklärt. Bilde die Quersumme des Baujahres (D)? Final – Mit A, B, C und D findest Du die Box in einem klassischen Chacherversteck (sei vorsichtig mit den Muggles) N46°32. [(50xD)+12x(A+B+C)+9] E007° 53.
