Queensborough Perimeter Trail Cache Series:
This series of 9 caches has been placed along the eastern section of the Queensborough Perimeter Trail.
It circles the development know as “Port Royal”. The starting point is on the south side of the North Arm of the Fraser River with a view of the eastern end of Poplar Island. The trail goes east along the river shore and under the railroad bridge to the eastern tip of Lulu Island.
You will also probably see river traffic as this is a working river.
Along this section you have views of the New Westminster waterfront
and upriver you can see the Sky Train Bridge.
From there the trail follows the north shore of Annacis Channel (the channel separating Lulu Isand and Annacis Island) in a south west direction past new housing developments before crossing a wooden walkway and moving away from the shore.
At the line of Stanley Street the trail takes a right angle turn and heads in a north westerly direction along a green way and ends at the intersection of Stanley Street and Ewen Avenue.
From there it is about 450 m east along Ewen Avenue to Furness Street where you then turn left and go about another 100 m to get back to the parking coordinates.
Caches in the Queensborough Perimeter Trail Series:
The total distance of the loop walk along the trail is about 2.5 km. There is a sign at the starting point of the trail near the first cache that has a “No Bicycle” icon but this does not seem to apply after cache 5.
Enjoy the walk and scenic view!
