Geocache Description:

This is part of a new series we are setting up. We came across a similar series in the Lake District created by ‘The Smileys’ which we really enjoyed completing, and thought we would recreate a similar series in Derbyshire.

The cache is located in the beautiful Derbyshire village of Repton. Archaeological finds dating from the Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Viking periods show Repton to have demographic importance from an early time. The village dates back to Anglo-Saxon times and was the place where Christianity was first preached in the Midlands. In the crypt of the church there are still well preserved remains of Saxon architecture. The church with its tall spire is not the only distinctive building - Repton has a wealth of these, many associated with the ancient school, which boasts previous pupils such as Roald Dahl, Jeremy Clarkson, C.B. Fry etc.

This could be done as a cache and dash, or linked in with others in the area. The cache is a small pot just past the end of a footpath, with parking nearby off the main road. Please watch both Geokids and Geomutts. There is a grass verge, but no pavement and the road can be busy. Please watch out for muggles!

Congratulations to Geoibsons & Geogarley for another night-time joint FTF!
