Geocache Description:

We want to show you another forgotten walk – this time a goat path (=keçi yolu) between Içmeler and Turunç. The path runs apart every road above the hills and provides beautiful panoramic views of the bays of Içmeler, Marmaris and Turunç.
It is the same type of cache as keçi yolu 1 (GC34G0G), but the terrain rating is higher.



You start in the old part of Içmeler (Eski Içmeler), which is still a rural area. Go to Turgut Özal Cadessi, the path is beginning behind a wall (waypoint 01: start Icmeler). Its course – marked with red, white and green waymarking and rock cairns – is passably clear visible along the whole distance. Please turn back and check the way, as soon as you don't find any waymarks. There are a lot of unmarked sideways. For example be careful at waypoint 02 (fork), you have to go left (down), not right (up).
On the way you can pick rosemary, sage and origan.
The cache is hidden at one of the most impressive points of the trail. From the hiding place you can enjoy beautiful views of the bay of Içmeler and Marmaris. The cache is placed about 206m above sea level.
The remaining trail from the cache until the end continues uphill and downhill over a distance of 3km. The last part of the path is like an "U", you pass a big tree which is overturned and there are some landslips. The trail ends at the building of the Internationale Akadamie Marmaris on 140m above sea level (waypoint 03: end Turunc).
Now follow the road (92 Sokak) through the complex of the Hotel Loryma Resort until you reach the road between Turunç and Içmeler. At this crossing there is a stop for the dolmus back to Içmeler (waypoint 04: dolmus Turunc).

Enough water is absolute essential on hot weather and don’t forget sun protection. We strongly recommend to wear sturdy shoes and long-sleeved clothing. A hiking stick might also be helpful. Don't do this cache in bad weather (rain / thunder storm). Be careful and take enough time! The walk should be completed before nightfall.
The path is almost 5,5km long, the altitude difference is approx. 450m. It is completely shown in Open Street Maps.
During our absence in Turkey the maintenance of this cache is done by a friend living in Turunç.

We have added a bonus to this cache: keçi yolu 2 bonus (GC35TTM) To find it, have a closely look at the street sign of the Turgut Özal Cadessi (waypoint 01) and notice the bonus number "A" within this box. Then take the remaining trail to Turunç and follow the instructions described in the bonus cache.
