The cache is located off Nine Mile Road and east of Dixboro Road. Dixboro Road is the border road separating Oakland and Livingston Counties.
This is a good starting or ending point for a pleasant bike ride on a fairly level paved trail. This section is a branch off the Rails-to-Trails route that can take you from South Lyon to Wixom via Pontiac Trail. There are over 40 caches hidden along or very near the bike trail. In New Hudson the trail has a west branch that leads to Island Lake State Park and Kensington Metro Park. There is rather steep climb around the old landfill if you head off to the parks. The south section of the trail terminates at South Lyon’s Volunteer Park. The park provides baseball fields, soccer fields, a picnic shelter and portable toilets.
Parking is available in a subdivision or at the nearby Centennial Middle School located on Nine Mile Road; the cache is a short walk on a paved and boardwalk trail.
The area is somewhat secluded.
