Geocache Description:

Ron Streeter was one of the first Northern California Geocachers, receiving Member Number 2468 on February 1, 2001. He got the ball rolling in the Central Valley/Sacramento area, and placed 196 caches throughout an area stretching from the eastern slope of Mt Diablo to the Sierras. He was the 3nd of only 9 finders of the original Project Ape Cache in May of 2001, and two of his hides were Kimbo's first finds.

Ron really was the pioneer. His first hide, GC284 near Brentwood, is still active. His caching career was relatively short, with his last find in 2004, but over the three years he was active he had a total of 922 finds to go along with his 196 hides for a very impressive hide:find ratio.

He hid all types of caches, but one of his two favorite hides seemed to be code caches, now outlawed, which consisted of a tiny "container" smaller than today's Nano with a four digit code marked on the outside. In order to log the find a cacher had to e-mail Ron with the correct code and get permission to claim the find. He also did his share of Traditionals and Virtuals, and his other favorite hiding style always seemed to involve long hikes in the Sierra foothills.

Without Ron there may not have been a Kimbo, and without Kimbo the whole RCGDS and Sacramento caching may have turned out entirely differently. Thanks Ron!
