Geocache Description:

*** Due to seasonal weather, distance, land-slide & washout events, etc.- check the logs for any up-dated info. and tips before heading out via foot, bike, boat or truck! *** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is an FMR - 'Fire Fighter' - 'Medic' - 'Rescuer' themed geocache. Toy: radio, pirate-pistol, binoculars, flare-gun, etc have been emplaced for you to 'pose & post-up' your own unique 'Rescue-Me' picture ... if you dare! ... (a fun option) ... Please leave those items within the cache for the next 'Survivor(s)'!! Be 'Bear-Aware'. Please do not leave any food, candy, perfume/scented items, within this container. Also, please don't emplace paper items such as band-aids as these tend to become soggy in this environment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a dry sunny day, in a 2-wheel drive truck with stock clearance, this terrain is about a 2.5 - 3 due to the amount of pot holes, bits of fallen rock, occasional slimy spots, etc. I have 'upped' the rating to 3.5 to better advise and award those travelling via boat, bike, or ... low-rider? *** NOTE - natural valley aspects seem to effect the GPSr a bit on different days. The posted coords are accurate however on a different day I did get N49 01.047 W121 24.081 consistently at the exact same spot! *** On average most cachers would rate difficulty finding this cache at a 2.5 - 3. I have upped this to a 4 as some have relied solely on the hint when GPSr signals offered vague readings. Sudden changes in weather can quickly alter 'difficulty' out here as well. Come prepared eh! ------------------------------------------------------- From the trail you should be able to easily spot a very huge - old growth tree towards the lake. The cache itself is only about 3-4 meters off the pathway (also off to the lakeside of trail - but not nearly as far down as the big tree!). It hides beside a stump (a bit low along trail-shoulder to the south when viewing the 'big' tree from the path). Stump has some old rusty cable wrapped around it. - Container is located on the northish side of the stump and is attached to the cable via cheap carabiner. - Step down about 2 meters via slope/path located just 3 meters north (right) of stump. ------------------------------------------------------- Bring/trade S.W.A.G. that somehow reflects our adventurous (and really cool) theme!! Mini-lights, small relectors, whistles, micro-rescue toys, etc. are encouraged. *** Please, - 'no' paper matches, bandaids, or 'foods/candy' etc. - as they tend to soak up moisture and get rotten U-G-L-Y!! ... Yuk! ... and attract bears! Feel free to remove anything broken, rotten, etc...Thank-You!! *** ------------------------------------------------------- You (your geo-crew) are an elite SAR (Search & Rescue) team who has just accepted the dangerous task of investigating this area for an amphibious helicopter due back at YCW (Chilliwack) yesterday. Broken voice communication followed by an ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) signal was reported at these coordinates. The signal suddenly stopped around 03:30 this morning... BE CAREFUL: Following recent solar-flare occurrences, sasquatch encounters and strange sightings are on the rise locally according to RCMP & Conservation Officers. Reports of eerie howling noises, boulders being hurled or rolled at vehicles, and fresh prints are amuck! Boats have been found empty, campsites ravaged or abandoned. 12 Hikers & 5 hunters have gone missing over the past week! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will take you along a diminishing 4x4 road/trail, or by boat to the south end of Chilliwack Lake. You will pass waterfalls, recent slides, snow-packed mountain peaks, dense forest, and onwards into the great frontier of known Sasquatch Country!! Your mission parameter includes verifying the ELT, look for signs of survivors, rescue if possible, log your findings, and return safely to your team's original point of deployment. GOOD-LUCK!! ------------------------------------------------------- [Well-done: Freshair4me & Lefty526 on your FTF - ...Mission Accomplished!...]
