From the car park at Tattershall Picnic Area, a nice short walk along the old disused railway, to the banks of the old Horncastle Canal. Then back through tree-lined, meandering grassed lawns. Surrounded by an abundance of plum and apple trees.
Tattershall Picnic Area is a hidden gem. Ample parking, snack bar, toilets and numerous picnic tables on the grassed areas. Notice boards provide a colourful history of the area along the short circular walk (less than 1/2 mile) At the end of the disused railway stretch, note the remnants of the original bridge over the Horncastle Canal. Turn right, along the path and as you pass into the trees, Tolkien fans beware the ancient willow that resides here. He may have snatched more than wayward Hobbits in his centuries of growth here. Cross the footbridge and follow the meandering grassed area back to the picnic site.
Cache is in a well camouflaged medical specimen container (Don't worry, previously unused)
