This was a multi cache but some of the clues went on walkabout so I've relisted as regular.
The west of the dam car park is best for the shorter route. The walk takes in part of the Leicestershire Round.
The cache site is away from the civilised amenities where wellies or your very finest disposable walking boots are the order of the day - depending on the time of year. It's just over one mile from the west car park with a final uphill approach. Dog and children friendly but your dog has to be on a lead for some of the way - and perhaps your kids as well if they're anything like ours were!
For the military geobuffs out there in cyberspace, the cache is hidden in a 10.5" x 7" x 3.5" NATO 200 cartridge 7.62mm for machine gun M60 ammo box. The cache hunt starts at the free car park west of the dam and there's an excellent garden centre, adjacent to the car park, specialising in fuchsias for the enthusiasts. There are lovely walks, wild life & scenery, a visitor centre, toilets & local pubs. The hunt, in our opinion, takes you via some great views and you can take in the circular walk on the way back to the car park to make the most of your visit.
