First to Find: Miami Fort Enclosure.
MAXRAYS says, “Bravo!!!”
The geoCache is located along the road that leads to Shawnee Lookout Park.
The Miami Fort enclosure is located in the Hamilton County Shawnee Lookout Park at the confluence of the Great Miami and Ohio rivers. “The park contains a rich and diverse array of burial mounds, earthworks [the enclosure], and habitation sites, as well as other archaeological features. More than 10,000 years of Indian occupation has been documented.” The hilltop enclosure covers around 12 acres. The mounding occurs around the perimeter of the hilltop. Also in the park are burial mounds and remnants of village sites associated with the Adena, Hopewell, Fort Ancient, and middle Woodland Indians.
