A short, moderate hike along Independence Lake Trail #712.
A large and unique cache container (over 2' long!) hidden along the 0.7 mile trail to Independence Lake. Trail is full of ups and downs, rocks and roots but quickly delivers you to a beautiful mountain lake and several other caches.
Note that cell service (AT&T anyway) ends about 2 miles outside Granite Falls so you'll need an actual GPSr. The 4.8 mile drive on FS 4060 (Coal Creek Road) is navigable by most any car but bring the truck if possible. Road ends at TH, can't miss it.
No need to dig in any vegetation, pull off moss or bushwhack in any way. Read the hint instead. Keep kids safe, steep hillside just down the trail.
Pit toilet at TH, ample parking and vehicle turnaround. Northwest Forest Pass required.
