Anderson Overlook

This overlook has a beautiful view of the Rio Grande valley and the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The lighting varies significantly during the day and this location is popular with photographers particularly at sunrise and sunset. While the current road may seem a bit harrowing for first-timers, imagine having to drive along the switchback roadway carved into the rock face behind you on the east-facing cliff.

Clinton P. Anderson was a dedicated New Mexico public servant originally from South Dakota. He served in a number of state offices before being elected to the US House of Representatives (1941) and the US Senate (1948), as well as US Secretary of Agriculture (1945).
