Geocache Description:

Todays the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1905 on the site of a former chapel of St. Mary of the Nativity, which was owned by the Frankopan counts. In the sacristy of the church is kept the altarpiece from 1586.g. according to which the painter Ivan Volaric painted one by the main altar. Shrine of the Councils altar is arranged for their people in 1978, according to the scheme from Mr. Fugošic A. Vincent. The interiors and exteriors were completley restored in 1996. There is also the Preromanesque pluteus whose findings pointed to the ancient roots of place Njivice.

The Church is not always open for visitors and pilgrims but you can visit interior on Sundays after the mass.
