First Contact Traditional Cache
Two Ton Whale: I think it is time to archive as it is much easier to get to now than when published, and I don't want to change the D/T which would devalue the find for those who found it earlier.

1972
An alien spacecraft streaks across the night sky above rural England. It slows down and settles above the quiet village of Southwater, watching the human beings milling about. Some of the Earthlings notice the spacecraft, either from its droning noise or the flashing lights on its underneath. Suddenly, a humming noise fills the air. It increases in pitch until all of a sudden, a beam shoots out of the ship and hits the ground. The humans see a small item float in the beam, before it shuts off and the item falls to the ground. Confused, the humans look to the sky, only to see the ship disappear at great speed into the atmosphere. After a few more seconds, the ship is gone. The following morning, the Earthlings search for the mysterious item, but to no avail. The alien object is never found.

A geocacher stumbles through the undergrowth, his GPS wildly off course. Whilst looking in the bushes, he finds a strange battered and charred box lying on the ground. Thinking he has found the cache he is seeking, he excitedly opens the box, eager to sign the log. However the box is not what he had expected. He has unwittingly discovered the alien box! He finds a Travel Bug attatched to a model of the aliens in command of the ship. Also there are many trinkets that the aliens took whilst 'observing' Earth and its citizens, along with a log book and pen. The cacher then signed the log and replaced the cache for others to enjoy and reveal the extra-terrestrial secrets for themselves.
