The Lake Dubay Dam was completed in 1943. It is named for Jean Baptiste DuBay, one of the first “white” (he was half French, half Menominee) settlers in the area. The site and remnants of his trading post were flooded by the Lake.
West of the dam and east of Hwy E stretches an earthen dike 6,800 feet long. The dike is level on top, and paved with fine gravel. It is a fine place to stroll, fish, and enjoy the scenic view across Lake Dubay, to Rib Mountain.
You will need to leave the dike and step into the woods to get to the cache, but it’s not far. You’re looking for a camo-taped thermos.
Resources manager Thomas J. Witt has given permission for placing this cache on Consolidated Water Power Company land. No motorized vehicles are permitted.
