A cache on a 1 mile detour from the 'go forth' series of caches. The walk takes cachers past fields of hops, and at the summit of a small hill provides a nice, picturesque view of the fields and church. Involves some muddy areas and going through fields where animals (mainly sheep) are grazing. Max incline is about 25 degrees.
Robertsbridge is a mile west of this cache and it might possibly be the most interesting place you've never heard of. It's one of the few places that still has houses that were built in the 14th century being lived in (including the little known seven stars inn). Its also where many famous people have lived: Heather Mills owns a house here, Professional Windsurfer Peter Smith as does the UK's duathlon champion and Harry Andrews (Film Actor, Who died in 1989)
Its also where the Robertsbridge Codex of 1360 was invented, which was the first manuscript type that was made for a keyboard.
The route that most will take, will take you past the hop fields and oast houses (they look like a tepee with a white top). The hops are taken and then immediately dried on site in the oast houses, before being brewed into speciality beers.
The title for this cache is aptly named too, because it is situated inside a place known (to the locals) as dead mans woods. On the hill where this is situated there are views of salehurst church, and a rolling landscape of trees.
Cache is in a black 35mm film canister with log only, so a pen/pencil is required.
