Introduction
This cache is located at one of the tops of Volcán San Pedro (3,020 meters - 9,908 ft). It is a stratovolcano on the shores of Lago de Atitlán. At its base is a village of the same name: San Pedro La Laguna. From this village you can take a guided tour to the top of the Volcano. You can use a tuktuk to go to the information center where you will register yourself for the hike (see waypoints). It’s not a very touristic spot, so the local people are pleased to help you.
Cache
Count on a 3 hours hike straight up the bushy hills. DO use mosquito spay, it’s necessary. Also take enough water with you. To see the Buena Vista view at the top, I recommend you to start the tour (early) in the morning. The clouds form here pretty heavily in the afternoon. The way back takes about 1,5 hour. It’s really worth the lake views and also a good exercise.
Be cautious by finding this cache. In the hint and spoiler description, there is enough information to make this a secure find. Please hide the cache in the exact same spot and make sure the cache and logbook are waterproof again.
