Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the southern Black Hills of S.D. just SE of the town of Pringle. It is named Coyote Watch because if you arrive early in the morning and sit at the cache site and watch the large meadow about a half mile to the east you may get to see a pair of coyotes chasing prairie dogs--yes sometimes they are successful. Binoculars will help you here.

The cache can be approached from the west (easy) or from the SE (steep but short). If using the SE approach please be respectful of the posted and unposted private property. In winter conditions the Forest Service road (FS) has a steep hill and may require the use of a 4 wheel drive vehicle; note that winter conditions also cause the prairie dogs to be inactive. If you don't have access to a 4 wheel drive the hike from the base of the big hill is only about a mile. To find this cache take US HWY 89 from Pringle south for 1.6 miles turning left at on Song Dog Drive that is FS 682.1. Then go 1.1 miles to a right turn onto FS 682.1C. Then you turn on to FS 682.1D. This part of the road is the roughest and a 4 wheel drive is highly recommended. The walk to the cache is about .30 miles.

Happy Caching to You!
