This cache has been archived.

erik88l-r: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The container is a small can placed on the rock overlooking the beach at N 18 56.182, W 155 38.737.
The cache should be easy to find, but I used my phone to get the GPS coordinates so I'm not sure how accurate they are. Please let me know what coordinates you get so I can make changes if I need to.

The Big Islands green sand beach is one of two in the world, and it is located at the southern most point in all of the United States. It is a must see for anyone visiting the Big Island.
The trail to the beach is pretty rough for vehicles, although most jeeps and trucks can make it out there I do not recommend it. I'm not sure exactly how far the hike is from the parking area, but it is at least a couple miles. There are many trails that look pretty confusing, but they all go to the same place so do not worry. If hiking I suggest taking the trails closest to the water for a better view.
South Point is a desert, it is very dry and VERY windy. Make sure you bring plenty of water and sunglasses to keep sand out of your eyes.
