Bird Sanctuary at Compton Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bonsaai: I've considered this one long and studied much on keeping it going, but the reasons to let it go outweigh the effort of keeping it alive against what may be malicious removal. Therefore, it's off to cache heaven for this former gem. Thanks to all for playing along here.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Bird Sanctuary at Compton Park. This observation platform overlooks the McAdams Ditch, which is a flood control project of the City of Alexandria, and a home for wild avian species... and the source for a good legal fight too between residents and the city but that's a story for another time.

Here one may see quite a few bird species including Mourning Doves and Downy Woodpeckers, and other wild critters such as raccoons, skunks and mice.

The cache is a tube that's trying to follow a white rabbit, but got snagged by a wire.

Be careful of the wildlife. Do not venture into the canal, or inside the 'Do Not Mow' areas inside the concrete border. Please practice CITO if you can.

Congratulations zacharyfamily FTF
