Will hold only very small and lightweight items, so that the magnet sticks to steel over the thick paint coat..
The advertised scenic view is from top of the bridge, NOT from the cache site. You will see swans, ducks and maybe a grey heron. The river runs majestically towards its last meander before the City of Limerick, it is beautifully unregulated unlike in the city.. This is the last few miles of the mighty river before it flows into Shannon Estuary.. For the scenic view, you need to take the staircase on the right side of the Languages Building, not the direct trail that leads along the left side of the same building.. You cannot get directly to the cache from the bridge or from the path between the River Shannon and the small canal..
The Living Bridge is at the Univeristy of Limerick campus, but paradoxically outside the City Limits by more than a mile, actually it connects UL premises in Counties Limerick and Clare, over the River Shannon forming the natural border..
The Living Bridge was built in 2007 and won several architecture awards in 2008, it was designed by WilkinsonEyre.Architects and you can view some of the official artistic photographs of the bridge at their webpage or at the site of ARUP who were the engineering consultants.
This is the UL PR flash panorama of the bridge
