Stewardship is "the careful and responsible management of something entrusted in one's care".
Springdale signed a Municipal Wetlands Stewardship Agreement in September 2001. The agreement represents a formal public committment by the community and the province to act together to conserve wetlands for waterfowl. It empowers a community to set aside important wetlands for long-term conservation within designated areas for the benefit of present and future generations. Wetlands are conserved within 3 Management Units within Springdale's municipal boundaries. These management units are the Indian Brook Arm Estuary Management Unit, the Lower Burnt Berry Bog Management Unit, and the Upper Burnt Berry Bog Management Unit.
The conservation of wetlands depends not wholly on conservation plans or regulations but on the stewardship ethic of residents and visitors like yourself!
