Greetings, humans,
allow me to introduce myself. I'm Jack Tap-on-the-Back, the last of
the three-eyed nocturnal tree spirits which once dwelt in the
Forest of Bernwood. I want to be left alone and I dislike anyone
daring to come onto my territory. If you're tempted I'll make sure
you're sent down a false trail never to be seen again.
I take great delight
in frightening any visitors, especially children, who venture into
my kingdom. That crack of a twig, that strange noise, that sharp
tap on your shoulder: that's me, that is, and I'm right behind
you.
Before you waste your
time stumbling around in the dark trying to find my lair I suggest
you take a night vision test to make sure you're capable
of following the trail. If you fail it might be better to stay
safely at home rather than risk my wrath.
