Una piccola piazzetta in memoria dei controversi massacri durante e dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Il cache è vicino un bar giustamente chiamato "Carpe Diem" o forse sarebbe stato meglio "Carpe Cache"? *** An unassuming piazza in memory of some very disputed massacres during and after the Second World War. The cache is near an aptly named "Carpe Diem" bar (or should it be "Carpe Cache"?)

Una foibe è una caverna verticale in cui la roccia soprastante in zone carsici è ceduto dentro un vuoto anche molto grande sotto. Sono state utilizzate durante e dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale per gettare i cadaveri nelle zone di Trieste / Gorizia. Questi eccidi per motivi politici erano tenuti molto nascosti fino al 2004 quando il 10 febbraio fu dichiarato “Giorno del Ricordo” in memoria delle vittime delle foibe e dell’esodo giuliano-dalmata. La data del 10 febbraio ricorda il trattato di Parigi siglato nel 1947 che assegnò alla Jugoslavia il territorio occupato nel corso della guerra dall'armata di Tito. Ogni anno dal 2005 viene svolto una breve cerimonia di ricordo in questa piccola piazzetta ‘insignificante’... La cache è micro contenente solo log e calamitta: a voi la mattita o penna. Non è il tipo con vite e dado non smontate nulla! Può essere difficile evitare i Babbani (per questo difficoltà a 2). Inoltre, spesso c’è uno scooter parcheggiato che dà fastidio! La foto spoiler non dà più l'indicazione esatta, ma rende l'idea! *** A foibe is a deep sinkhole in karstic areas where bedrock has sunk into a void beneath. These were used during and after the Second World War as mass graves in the Trieste / Gorizia regions of Italy. These killings were largely 'not mentioned' for political reasons until 2004 when the 10th of February was declared Remembrance Day for the people that were killed and or buried in the foibe as well as all the exiles from the area. The 10th of February 1947 was when the Paris treaty was signed handing over to Yugoslavia the occupied territories by Tito’s armies. Each year since 2005 on this day there have been speeches by local politicians and veterans held in this small, ‘insignificant’ piazza. The cache is a micro and contains only the log and the magnet: up to you to bring a pen or pencil. It is not a nut and bolt type cache so don’t start dismantling anything! Can sometimes be difficult to avoid Muggles, hence the 2 for difficulty. Also there is frequently an annoyingly positioned scooter. The spoiler photo no longer gives the precise position but it gives the general idea. . . Free counters!
