Geocache Description:

Tour de Parks!
This Cache is part of a series hidden by Southlake Parks and Recreation.

The series is designed to introduce locals to Southlake’s parks. All of the hides are kid friendly so it is a great opportunity to introduce them to geocaching. We encourage you to come out for the geocache but to stay and enjoy the parks!

Cache is a bison tube.

SLParksRec: Bob and Meady Jones
Southlake’s largest and most diverse park. Bob Jones Park includes nearly 500 acres, most of which is native Cross Timbers habitat. The park also features soccer fields, a softball complex, a 6 acre pond with a lighted fishing pier, Boo Boo’s Buddies Dog Park and numerous hiking, biking and equestrian trails.

The namesake of the park is Bob Jones who was well respected in the area and who also owned some of the land acquired by the city for the park. The Jones family had lived in the Southlake area for over fifty years and Bob Jones’s sons had ran a livestock auction barn at Texas 114 and White’s Chapel Road. In 1949, the sons opened a tiny café at the auction barn in which blacks and whites sat side-by-side to eat. It was perhaps the first integrated restaurant in Texas.

Enjoy all this park has to offer! Please note park hours are dawn to dusk.

We would really love to hear some feedback about our geocaching program. You all leave great logs but we would really appreciate it if anyone who has completed the SLParksRec series or even just one cache could complete our online Customer Satisfaction Survey.
