Geocache Description:

[EN] The Focsani-Namoloasa-Galati fortified line was built between 1888-1893 by the Second Engineers Battalion, following Maximilian Schumann's plans. The fortifications stretched for a length of 72 km, aimed at defending national territory against possible aggression from the east or north. Namoloasa Front, whose length was 12.5 km, was the "bridgehead" on the left bank of the Siret and was meant to protect bridges from Lungoci, Fundeni and Namoloasa. This allowed the Romanian Army to operate on both sides of the Siret. The front consisted of 8 fortified groups of batteries placed on two concentric lines. Each group consisted of three strengthened positions in the first line, each with three sites for portable 53mm turrets, while the second line consisted of two armored domes, housing one 120mm Howitzer each. The fortifications were built of brick and non reinforced concrete, the front being covered with a mound of earth that provided both strength and camouflage. Due to the use of non reinforced concrete, the fortifications were obsolete by the time of the First World War. The cache is hidden in one of the fortifications of the second line. You are looking for a 1.8 liter lock'n'lock type container. Cars can be parked on the roadside, 20 meters from the bunker.
