This is a great way to meet fellow cachers and put a face to the
names and share some of your caching adventures while enjoying a
nice dinner.
Grab some grub and get a kick start to your caching weekend
Space is limited so please indicate in your "will attend" log how
many will be in your party.
As of now we have reached our limit
of 65 so we will start a waiting list.
Those that logged a "will attend" if you can't make it please post
a note so we know there's free spots for those on the
waitinglist.
We will also have some prizes available to be won.
Many thanks to the generous donations from our sponsors:
We have preliminary arrangements for 55 people at Kelsey's.
Currently there's still room for more attendants. In case the limit
is reached, we will update the listing accordingly, make an
announcement and keep a waiting list. We may also be able to fit
more than 50 into Kelsey's, again we will make an announcement once
we know more.
Some interesting information about the number 11:
July and October in 2011 will have 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5
Sundays. This happens just once in every 823 years.
2011 will have 4 unusual dates:
1/1/11
1/11/11
11/1/11
11/11/11
And that’s not all. Here’s the most special thing about
this year:
Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born.
Add the age you will be in 2011.
The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world.
What is the 11 trying to tell us?
- 11 is the first number which cannot be represented by a human
counting with his or her eight fingers and two thumbs
additively.
- Eleven is the smallest positive integer requiring three
syllables in the English language (El-Ev-En).
- The deepest point of the ocean floor is 11km at the bottom of
the Mariana Trench.
- The Apollo 11 mission was the first manned mission to land on
the Moon
- On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918
(11/11/1918), an armistice was signed that ended World War I The
anniversary of this day is still celebrated as Veterans Day in the
United States. It is also celebrated as Armistice Day or
Remembrance Day in other parts of the world.
- The Great Blue Norther of 11/11/11 (November 11th 1911) was the
biggest cold snap in U.S. history. Many cities broke record highs
early that afternoon. By nightfall, cities were dealing with
single-digit temperatures on the Fahrenheit scale. This is the only
day in many midwest cities' weather bureau jurisdictions where the
record highs and lows were broken for the same day.
- Sun spots are dark spots on the surface of the sun. Sunspot
activity increases and decreases on an 11-year cycle. The next
sunspot cycle is expected to occur by late 2011 reaching it's peak
in activity in 2012. Sunspots have intense magnetic fields which
are associated with magnetic storms on earth. Radio reception on
earth is also affected by the sun spot cycle. The Sun's magnetic
poles will remain as they are now, with the north magnetic pole
pointing through the Sun's southern hemisphere, until the year 2012
when they will reverse again. This transition happens at the peak
of every 11-year sunspot cycle -- like clockwork.
- The millennium's last total solar eclipse occurred on August
11, 1999. It was the most-viewed total solar eclipse in human
history. The track of this eclipse began in the Atlantic a few
hundred miles east of Boston, MA, swept northeast across the ocean
reaching totality in Cornell England at 11:11 a.m. It swept across
Europe to the Black Sea, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and India,
ending in the Bay of Bengal.
- The 2012 Winter Solstice will occur on December 21, at 11:11
Universal Time (UTC). On this unusual winter solstice in 2012, the
sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first
time in about 26,000 years. This is a rare astronomical alignment.
This means that "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from
the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at
11:11 p.m. Universal Time. The ancient Maya recognized this as the
Sacred Tree, an event that has been coming to resonance very slowly
over thousands and thousands of years. This event is also
recognized in Native American and Egyptian cultures to name a few.
In Astrology,The 2012 winter solstice will mark the end of the age
of Pisces and the beginning of the age of Aquarius.
- In Numerology 11 is a Master (or Power) Number, as are all
double digit numbers, such as 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, and 99.
The 11 represents rare and exceptional energy originating from
outside mundane reality. It also represents impractical idealism,
being visionary, intuition, revelation, and artistic and inventive
genius. In Astrology, the eleventh sign of the zodiac is Aquarius
associated with the 11th house. The astrological traits of Aquarius
are attributed to humanitarianism, eccentricity, Intellectualism
and Independence. Uranus is the ruling planet of Aquarius and
brings with it a new way of looking at things and its approach is
best met with an expanded consciousness. Uranus rules unexpected
change, upheaval and revolution.
- In theoretical physics, M-theory is an extension of string
theory in which 11 dimensions are identified. Because the
dimensionality exceeds that of superstring theories in 10
dimensions, proponents believe that the 11-dimensional theory
unites all five string theories (and supersedes them). Though a
full description of the theory is not known, the low-entropy
dynamics are known to be super gravity interacting with 2- and
5-dimensional membranes.
Canada
The stylized maple leaf on the Flag of Canada has eleven
points.
The Canadian one-dollar coin is a hendecagon, an eleven-sided
polygon.
Clocks depicted on Canadian currency, for example the Canadian
fifty-dollar bill, show 11:00.
Eleven denominations of Canadian currency are produced in large
quantities.
Due to Canada's federal nature, eleven legally distinct Crowns
effectively exist in the country, with the Monarch being
represented separately in each province, as well as at the federal
level
In sports
There are eleven players on a soccer team on the field at a time as
well as in a cricket team. Within a school or college, the phrase
first eleven (or first XI) - often "first football XI" and "first
cricket XI" - generally refers to the first (best) team currently
playing. Other teams are often referred to as "the second XI"
etc.
Also in soccer, in the German language (and others like Italian -
"gli undici metri" -, countries that predominantly use the metric
system) a penalty kick is referred to as "Elfmeter" because the
penalty spot is approximately 11m (precisely 12 yards) from the
goal line. Historically, in the Pyramid formation that position
names are taken from, a left wing-forward in football wears number
11. In the modern game, especially using the 4-4-2 formation, it is
worn by a left-sided midfielder. Less commonly a striker will wear
the shirt..
In music
The interval of an octave and a fourth is an eleventh. A complete
eleventh chord has almost every note of a diatonic scale.
The number of thumb keys on a bassoon, not counting the whisper
key. (A few bassoons have a twelfth thumb key.)
In Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, there are eleven
consecutive repetitions of the same chord.
"Eleven pipers piping" is the gift on the eleventh day of Christmas
in the carol "The Twelve Days of Christmas"
