Enter the woods by a faded trail flag at N 61 23.248 W 149 29.076, about half-way between two convenient parking places. Cross old birch deadfall and follow traces of an old animal trail basically west. Trail is rather flat for the first half, then rather steep for the last half. Cache is visible through some stacked sticks.
The online system rates this cache 3/4. Being fit and endlessly energetic, I would personally rate it lower. The elevation at parking is 389' and at cache is only 433'. Very pleasant woods, but with a lot of deadfall and some devil's club thrown in for good measure. I did see one lethargic mosquito.

Listen up, boys and girls, because retrieving the log is VERY TRICKY! Once cache is removed from its protective cover (safely nestled between piles of sticks, but visible from approach), set lid on ground to place swag. Holding cache in non-dominant hand, turn it upside-down. With dominant hand, remove white foam stopper, then feel inside for tube and pencil. Extract log, sign and date, and replace it all. Now, wasn't that fun?
It'll go easier if you approach the cache site as I did, whistling in Italian. I expect lrbmlb to sing in sweet harmony, "L'Ora Dell'Addio," my current very, very favorite song! It is heart-shakingly beautiful and haunting. (Yeah, Alaskan Bill and I love Josh!)
