This cache is placed at Trigonometric Beacon No 2931-110 “TABANKULU”

LATITUDE = -29.81695556 LONGITUDE = 30.75945089 ORTHO HT = 651.7

There are +/- 27,000 Trig Beacons under the Surveyor General of South Africa. Their purpose is to provide Surveyors with a network of known co-ordinates and elevation which are critical for accurate survey for everything from roads, houses, skyscrapers to pipelines and boundaries etc.

Trig Beacons are often placed on hilltops or in places that offer good visibility from all directions.
