There is a
special quirk about this law, discovered by Albert Einstein. A
special Geocaching no-prize will be given if you can tell me what
that is in your log.
Newton's second law
Lex II: Mutationem motus
proportionalem esse vi motrici impressae, et fieri secundum lineam
rectam qua vis illa imprimitur.
Law II: The alteration of
motion is ever proportional to the motive force impress'd; and is
made in the direction of the right line in which that force is
impress'd.
Simpler: The acceleration (a) of a body is parallel and
directly proportional to the net force (F) and inversely
proportional to the mass (m), i.e., F = ma.
Even simpler: if
you flick a booger, it will cause an acceleration of that booger.
The law addresses the cause and effect relationship between the
force of the flick and the motion of the booger.
