This place is known locally as The Chain Gates. Not sure why as the chains are nowhere near the gates. This is the alternative entrance to the old Blairdrummond Estate, which now consists of a Camphill project in the old house & Scotland's only safari park in the main grounds.
Please do not park in entrance. The nearest parking is just over the Truth Bridge
The official entrance to Blairdrummond House and seperately the Safari Park are several miles along the road towards Stirling. Blair Drummond is situated on the south bank of the River Teith. Blair Drummond house stands on a high point above the river valley across which the parklands extend this is outside of the Safari Park. The gatehouse here is the northern entrance which leads to High Daira, mostly parkland in permanent pasture but partly wooded, is particularly significant as a backdrop to Doune Castle. The estate contains wonderful names such as High Daira and Vale of Coustry, Gallow Hill and Christ's Well showing the influence of both religion and language. Menteith was a crossroads for 3 languages – Scots, British and Gaelic Parking is nearby on the other side of the bridge. There is no parking available right next to the cache There is a lodge house close by so give some consideration when attempting this cache
