Geocache Description:

The cache has been moved a short distance from its original location. It is a 200ml Systema in a northbound rest stop. It can get very busy at times. Sit and take a look around. Compare the included photos with what you can see now.

On February 7 2009 this area was devastated by the worst fires in this country's history. The fire claimed 173 lives and impacted on the lives of countless others. This cache is dedicated to the resilience of human nature and to nature itself. As you pause here, reflect on the devastation that occurred as well as the capacity of this world to regenerate. The photos included in the cache are views taken from this spot a week after the fires. Compare them to what you see now. As you leave and continue north, look for the "Rooster on the Hill". A group of trees well known to the locals, which survived the fires. Contents: Log book, pen and pencil, photos for comparison (please leave). GC8ZZNW (Sunday Creek) is nearby at a memorial for Black Saturday.
