Dominant majestueusement la vallée de la Vienne, Touffou est une demeure à la fois étrange et noble, d'une grande séduction. Il est fait mention du château dès 1127. Les deux donjons, élevés au XIIè furent réunis au XVè et dotés d'un système de défense perfectionné, avec chemin de ronde crénelé et mâchicoulis. Se visitent : la tour François 1er décorée de fresques, la tour de la Chapelle (chapelle, cachots) et la tour de l'Hôtellerie (ancienne boulangerie et cuisine). Visite libre des jardins et des écuries. A proximité : la Cité Médiévale de Chauvigny et son spectacle de haut vol des Géants du Ciel. Proudly overlooking the Vienne Valley, Touffou is a strange yet noble, and enchanting site. The chateau was mentioned as early as 1127. The two 12th century dungeons were joined in the 15th century, adding to a rampart walkway and the defensive wall slits, which perfected the chateau's defences. To visit: the Francis I tower and its frescoes, the chapel tower (chapel and dungeon) and the Hôtellerie tower (once the bake house and kitchens). Unaccompanied visits of the gardens and stables.
