Geocache Description:

Hastings Pass is the location where the Hastings Cutoff went over the top of the Cedar Mountains and down the west side towards Pilot Peak. On a clear day you can see Pilot Peak in the far distance. From here, the Hastings Cutoff of the California Trail went down the canyon, over Grayback Mountain, around the north side of Floating Island and the Silver Zone Range on the salt flats, and finally to Donner Springs.

This cache has been placed by members of the Oregon-California Trails Association. The mission of this organization is "to protect the Historic Emigrant Trails legacy by promoting research, education, preservation activities and public awareness of the trails, and to work with others to promote these causes."
