This cache is located in St Laurence's Church, Leaveland. It is a small plastic container with some small swaps. The church is locked at night, the cache is unavailable then. Cache kindly placed with permission from the incumbent and all members of Parochial Church Council. Please feel free to sign the visitor's book.
St Laurence is a small church, serving the village of Leaveland. It is twinned with St Leonards, Badlesmere.
It is believed that Leaveland (Leofa's Land) derives its name from a chieftain, probably a Jute, who was here perhaps 1500 years ago.
The parish, which extends to about 400 acres has been linked for much of its history with Badlesmere, with which it is now combined.
Its three most ancient buildings are the church, the manor house beside it, Leaveland Court, and the priest's house, Monk's Cottage, down the hill.
The most original parts of the church date from 1221. The church bell, provided in 1581 is still rung week by week to summon the faithful to prayer and praise.
