Geocache Description:

Yallourn was a town in the Latrobe Valley which was set-up to remain alive only until the SEC (State Electricity Commission) decided that they needed access to the coal on which it had been built. To help with relocating the many families who lived in Yallourn, as well as to provide accommodation for the projected growth of the Latrobe Valley, the township of Churchill was planned and came into being during the mid 1960’s.

The initial town was planned around a mix of Government (Housing Commission) houses and privately owned houses mixed in together. This proved to be a popular venture and Churchill grew steadily throughout the 1970’s &80’s. Then came the “Kennet Years”, and the Latrobe Valley ground to a halt as the SEC was privatised and thousands of jobs were shed. The planned growth within Churchill came to an abrupt halt, the planned housing commission developments were stopped and Churchill’s projected population of over 60,000 people stagnated at around 4,500.

For over 20 years development in Churchill was limited, with no new land sub-divisions opening up within the town. Any new private housing seemed to be built on the outskirts of the town on larger blocks. Then, in 2005, a notice board advertising a new estate appeared at the end of Canterbury Rd (West). Winston Park came into being after much discussion and debate.

The first houses started construction during 2006, and the estate now has the most salubrious and tasteful houses in Churchill. People are clamouring to buy new blocks as more of the land is opened up. A number of the earlier houses lead the way in excellent design and construction, and have set an example that the new purchasers strive to emulate.
Disclaimer: There may be some personal bias in the descriptions above!!

There is no need to enter any private property or construction site to locate and retrieve the cache. The cache in not located anywhere remotely dangerous.

The hide is an "In Your Face Camo", which itself conceals a micro size tube with log. You will need to bring your own writing utensil, as it is too small for anything other than the log.
