Geocache Description:

Simple hide in a valley behind the sports park in Redcliffs.
Please bring your own pencil or pen.
Please replace cache exactly as found.

On September 4th 2010 Canterbury was shaken by a large earthquake. Then on February 22nd another large shake caused significant damage to the Port Hills and subsequently shut the walking tracks from the back of this park. This cache is placed one year on from these events.
We had planned to put a cache higher up the valley but this is unlikely to happen anytime soon. Whilst hanging around waiting for power and water to come back on in February we thought of this spot.....has taken us a while to get around to it!

This site was destroyed when the council removed the bridge and widened the drain recently (see logs)

I have located a new spot for the cache since its destruction six weeks ago. It is a little bit further up the valley but the view is definitely better and it is just as much fun to find.
