Abandoned? Traditional Cache

Out checking out Bear Creek Nature Park with my husband and we decided to continue up the path after finding Bridge View. Ended up in a clearing and kept going for awhile.
I marked the terrain as 2 because you need to step off the path.
Discovered a piece of machinery that looked like it had been left there for awhile. Not sure if it has been abandoned or just left for the interim. Decided that I should leave a cache nearby in case anyone else decided to explore the same area.
It is not on the machinery in case someone comes and moves it away, but it is nearby.
I used my iPhone to get a reading, so the coordinates might be a little off. It did say it was within 5m.
The cache is a small gum container inside a plastic bag. It has a log book, pen, and a couple of trade items.
You might want to use the hint to help, but the location should be obvious.
