Geocache Description:

THIS GEOCACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES.

This cache was placed help scouts at the annual Advance Camp work on their Geocaching Merit Badge. Advance Camp is a gather of more than 2,000 scouts at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds. At Advance Camp Boy Scouts work on a variety of merit badges, and at the 2011 Advance Camp is the first opportunity to work on the Geocaching Merit Badge. Since this cache has been hidden to celebrate Geoscouting, this mystery cache has a scouting theme.

The cache is hidden at:
N38 ° 00.ABC’
W121 ° 49.DEF’

Where:

A = Friendly is the “A”th characteristic of a scout in the Scout Law.

B = Number represented by the name of the rank of a scout after Tenderfoot.

C = X – 6. On every day hike a scout is required to carry X essentials

D = Y ÷ 3. Where Y = The minimum number of Eagle required merit badges a scout must obtain to earn the rank of Eagle Scout (Not including the Cooking MB which as added January 2014, after the time of the placing of this cache.)

E = When on outings scout are required to travel in groups with of minimum size of this number for safety reasons. That way a scout in trouble can be helped if needed.

F = Z * 4. One of the highest levels of training an adult scout leader (Scouter) can obtain is Woodbadge. All Woodbadge trained Scouters and only these Scouters are elligible to wear a patch for Troop Z.

Many have sent me flaming e-mails regarding errors in the puzzle. Don't. The puzzle does work, I had it checked by scouts and cahcers. There are no errors. Do not rely on old recollections of when you were a scout. Careful reading of the clues are essential. That appears to thrown many off. Missing one key word can give you the wrong answer. Any currently active scout can probably answer all these off the top of their head, but looking up the answer on the web has potential pitfalls in that some single sources will only give you partial and that will result in you having an error in your calculation. The puzzle is based on BOY Scout requirements, Girl Scouts have slightly different requirements, such as what is considered the proper number for a buddy group.

Congrats to PattyPre who although making some errors found the cache through brute force, basically just searching a huge area around her incorrect coordinates.

I upped the diffulty as so many seem to have made errors and were unable to find. DNF's not list, but flaming e-mails received. The cache itself is not terribly difficult to find if you have the correct coordinates.
