Quick grab near I-35 in Story City. DO NOT attempt this cache from the interstate - it is both dangerous and illegal. You can access the cache site from a nearby gravel road. Cache has log and pencil with room for small trackables and trinkets.
*CAUTION - please watch where you step carefully out here (especially in winter). There are lots of sharps and odd rocks on the ground and the footwork may be tricky.*
Altocumulus (Alto, "middle", cumulus, "heaped") is a cloud belonging to a class characterized by globular masses or rolls in layers or patches, the individual elements being larger and darker than those of cirrocumulus and smaller than those of stratocumulus. Like other cumulus clouds, altocumulus signifies convection. It is usually white or gray, and often occurs in sheets or patches with wavy, rounded masses or rolls. Altocumulus often are seen preceding a cold front, and their presence on a warm, humid, summer morning frequently signals the development of thunderstorms later in the day.
One form of altocumulus, altocumulus lenticularis (Lenticular cloud) can resemble flying saucers and may be occasionally be mistaken for "unidentified flying objects". Altocumulus generally forms about 6,500 feet to 20,000 feet (1,200 to 6,100 meters) above ground level.
You will NOT need to go down to the "third" level to get to the cache container. The first level is the road bed and you will go down to another level with trees - the cache is here and there is no need to go down to the creek level.
