Geocache Description:

Jarvis Park has always been a favorite spot for our family. It was where we took our oldest child for his first public outing and later where he discovered the wonder of ice cream sandwiches. An Easter picnic was enjoyed here by 3 spacedogs with #4 soon to arrive on the scene. Today, we all love to stroll around the park, watch the rabbits, look at interesting mushrooms, and just enjoy life together. The cache is located a short distance down the walking trail, but please complete the entire loop if time allows and enjoy this little nature oasis that we love so much. Cache is small container off the trail. Tree cover is heavy, but there is clear coverage to about 40 feet from the cache. Geosense will lead you right to the spot. Please help us maintain our cache by trading equal or up with the swag.

***NOTE (July 1019)*** There is still a bit of hurricane debris beyond the cache location. Cache should be hidden reasonably visible - no need to bushwhack too deep! When you re-hide the Cache, please don’t bury it too deeply in the brush or place it too close to the water. Also: alligators have been spotted near the water from time to time - and that’s ok, they live there. However, please keep kids and dogs far from the water as a precaution. Cache should be at the edge of the brush and embankment and easy to find without getting close to the little pond.

For more info on the park: "This public park opened May 5, 2003. It is a 53 acre park with an 11 acre lake. Amenities include rest rooms, barbeque grills, playground, floating dock, picnic pavilion, boardwalks through wetlands, and asphalt and mulch trails. The lake is stocked with Blue Gill and Largemouth Bass for catch-and-release fishing. The asphalt trail is connected to the town bike paths. The park is also part of the rainwater management system for runoff from Hilton Head Plantation and surrounding areas. Runoff is pumped into the lake, where sediment settles, then is filtered through the wetlands before being released into Jarvis Creek. The $1 million park was funded by the sale of dirt that was removed to form the lake and by grants." Quoted from www.hhisleinfo.com/PublicParks
