Geocache Description:

When iron was discovered to be in abundance in Oswego two
mines were open. The Patton Mine was just south of the lake.

Early on the Patton mine was a strip mine and smaller than the
Posser Mine. The work was hard and the environment was cold and
muddy. All the men had for protection were rubber boots and light
was provided by candles only.

Park at George Rogers Park and cross the bridge to access trails. This area can play havoc on the GPS. A trail will lead upwards to the cache area.
