Welcome to another Blacklegend cache... This is
my 85th hide...
We found this great little spot, mainly because of the nearby
"Marshes Road" which, if you know me, I thought was great.... But
the real treasure lay about 100m away, in the form of an old
decommissioned railway stop.
Green Swamp Road is a stop on the now decommissioned Tocumwal
Branch Line which ran between Tocumwal and Narrandera. This stop is
listed by NSW Rail Link as a platform only.
The stop itself is 711.9 kms from Sydney, and at this location the
platform is still visible, which is great. The stop opened on
14-Oct-1896, but the platform was not added until 24-Nov-1906. It
was closed down on 4-May-1975.
I would have put a cache at the platform, but I had a few kids with
me, and did not want to venture to far from the car. So it is,
where it is. A short walk to the north will take you to the
platform according to Near Map images. Another image below looking
