Geocache Description:

On the northern side of Hamarinn, in a rocky terrain. Hidden beside the elf-church

Hamarinn in Hafnarfjörður is a whaleback, made by the Iceage glacier. The ice crawled over the rocky hill from the south east. While doing that it created smooth hill, but broke of on the other side, where there are steeper cliffs. On the top you can see scratches in the rock from the weight of the glacier.

The Hamarinn is as well home to the elfs. Beside the cliff are two rocks that form a roof, during my upbringing we called it the church of the elfs.

The area was protected as national monument in 1984.
