Best to approach from Valley View side with small parking area. The cache is located in the woods between the Harrington cemetery and the historical Estelle school foundation. It had to be moved back further because it was to close to other Bird cache. When you find the cache there is a little history book/log with photos of what this area looked like back in 1884-1940’s.
Former students and residents of the Estelle Heritage community have a goal of building a replica of the old Estelle school here someday. The marker that was outside where you parked by the guardrails is missing. It was there at the beginning of this summer 2011 when I started research but now it is missing.
The Harrington Family donated land on which the Estelle School was built in 1884. Bryant and Ryan Harrington came to the Estelle area shortly after the Civil War. The brothers owned large land holdings on which they raised cattle and farmed. In 1883, the Harrington Family donated land for a community school (Estelle School) and Masonic lodge. The Harrington cemetery is located near school.
One of my favorite cache is located nearby... Birds of a Feather: 111 (GC339FT) by lostnthestacks. A special thanks to GoeDee (who I met when I was placing cache and he helped me get accurate coordinates since my iPhone was off.
FTF Prize is a $10 MacArthur Cardinal Food Card
