This is one in a series of caches that we are hoping to add more to as time allows. They will be placed around rural Herefordshire to introduce you to some of the delightful village churches. If you already live in the area you will no doubt know of some, if not all of these locations. The churches will either be in a lovely location or have an unusual or interesting fact to warrant a cache. The actual caches will not be in the church grounds but placed a short distance away.
Cache is in a bison tube .
St Andrews Church.
The church is hidden away in the village of Allensmore a short distance from the A465 Abergavenny to Hereford Road. It dates back to late Norman times.
In 1605 there was a six week uprising (“The Herefordshire Commotion”) when an excommunicate from the Church of England ( Alice Wellington) was refused burial in the churchyard. Outcome unknown.
To reach the cache you need to follow the footpath through the churchyard and across the fields, about a quarter of a mile.
Congratulations to The Neades Family FTF
