Evans Bike Path - #1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Detecto: Sorry to report that the cache is being archived. The cache container has been broken many times in the past and placed on the outside of the rail instead of underneath where it was protected from the weather. Besides I haven't been actively caching in about a year, so I thought I should open the area to another geocacher. The cache has been removed as of 6-15-2017.

Geocache Description:

The official name for the Evans bike path is the "Lakeshore Shoreline Trail". The trail has been on the drawing board for approximately eleven years, starting in the year 2000. Giff Swyers and the town Director of Planning, Sandra Brant, and staff have been directly involved in co-ordinating efforts at all levels of government to get the job done.

Phase #1, is complete. It goes from Roat Drive to Bennett Beach Park on the Old Lake Shore Road a distance of 1 mile. You only have to ride the bike path once to fully appreciate it. It is much safer than riding on the Old Lake Shore Road.

Phase #2, is on the drawing board and is scheduled for next year. It should connect with Phase #1 and go to Evans Town Park.

There are additional extensions planned for the future. Let me say that from what I have been told it will be an enjoyable journey through the Town of Evans and more.

Parking is available at Bennett Beach Park most of the time. Park here and enjoy the approximate 1/2 mile walk to the cache site or ride your bicycle. You should also be able to park at the corner of Wendt Road and be within a short walking distance of the cache.

Additional hint: childhood game of "Pickle in the Middle". Count 7 in from the end - middle......

WARNING: New signs on Bike Path!!!!!!!! No parking allowed on either side of the Old Lake Shore Rd from Bennett Rd to Roat Dr. .....The whole length of the bike path and Wendt Rd. Suggest using a bike or a second person in the car to act as a second driver or whatever while you look for the cache. ....SORRY.....

Congratulations to Larks6981 for the FTF
