This is a little "Multi-Earthcache" to show you the salt lake and the beautiful island Gili Meno!
Gili Meno Salt Lake
English discription:
Gili Meno is the smallest of the three Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Air & Gili Meno) and is located in front oft he northwestern coast of Lombok.
The three sand islands are well worth to visit and not only for Geocachers.
Gili Meno is the smallest and most quiet of the three islands, but has a special geologic „surprise“, a beautiful salt lake (best time for a visit is sunset).
A salt lake (or saltwater lake) is an inland water filled with saltwater but without direct conection to the ocean. Salt lakes are, like here at Gili Meno, located in a holler or a basin. They are formed when the water is flowing into the bassin / lake, containing salt or minerals and when the salty water cannot leave because the lake is endorheic. The weather at Gili Meno is influenced by the dry and the rainy season and for this reason some parts of the salt lake change into a „micro salt flat“ during summer.
I developed this Earthcache not only to show you the salt lake, but to show the beauty of the whole island. Therefore it is a kind of „Multi Earthcache“ with three different stages. But since you can surround the whole island in only 45 min you should be able to visit all stages at a day trip. Of course the salt lake ist he central stage of this Earthcache because Gili Meno is the only island in the whole region, where you can find such a unique lake.
At stage 1 ( S 08° 21.179 / E 116° 03.702 ) you`ll stand at the beach and watch the ocean. From there you can see two islands. Which islands do you see?
At stage 2 ( S 08° 21.031 / E 116° 03.313 ) you`ll stand at the salt lake. At the other side of the lake you`ll see one lonely house made of wood. You now have to measure out the distance (meters) to the other lakeside. Please measure out the distance from stage 2 to the wooden house, because the quantity oft he lake changes between dry- and rainy season. Now you have to document (in words or with pictures) the current state oft he lake (water level, colour of the salt mud (only during dry season),...).
At stage 3 ( S 08° 20.658 / E 116° 03.129 ) you`ll stand again at the beach and watch the ocean. From this point you can again see two islands. Which islands do you see here?

Gili Meno ist die kleinste der drei Gili Inseln (Gili Trawangan, Gili Air & Gili Meno) und befindet sich in der Lombokstraße kurz vor der Nordwestküste Lomboks.
Die drei kleinen Sandinseln haben alle ihren ganz eigenen Reiz und sind sicher nicht nur für Geocacher eine Reise wert.
Gili Meno ist die kleinste und ruhigste der drei Inseln, hält aber mit einem traumhaft gelegenen Salzsee (besonders schön bei Sonnenuntergang) eine ganz besondere geologische Überraschung bereit.
Ein Salzsee (auch: Salzwassersee) ist die Bezeichnung für ein Binnengewässer mit Salzwasser ohne Abfluss in einen Ozean. Diese Salzseen befinden sich, wie auch auf Gili Meno, in einer Senke oder einem Becken. Sie entstehen, wenn salziges Meerwasser den See oder die Senke überflutet und das salzige Wasser von dort nicht wieder ablaufen kann. Da das Klima auf Gili Meno von einem starken saisonalen Klimawechsel (Regen- und Trockenzeit) geprägt ist, verwandeln sich Teile des Sees in der Trockenzeit in eine „Miniatursalzwüste“.
Dieser Earthcache soll euch aber nicht nur den Salzsee, sondern die gesamte Schönheit von Gili Meno nahe bringen. Es handelt sich daher um einen „Multi-Earthcache“ mit drei Stationen. Da die ganze Insel aber in einer ca. 45 minütigen Strandwanderung zu umrunden ist, sollten alle Stationen auch bei einem Tagesausflug besucht werden können.
Aber natürlich ist der Salzsee der absolute „Mittelpunkt“ meines Earthcaches, denn einen vergleichbaren See findet man auf den anderen Inseln rund um Bali und Lombok nicht!
An Station 1 ( S 08° 21.179 / E 116° 03.702 ) befindet ihr euch am Strand und blickt auf das Meer. Vor euch könnt ihr zwei Inseln entdecken. Welche sind es?
An Station 2 ( S 08° 21.031 / E 116° 03.313 ) befindet ihr euch am Salzsee. Am gegenüberliegenden Ufer befindet sich ein einziges Gebäude aus Holz. Messt nun die Entfernung (in Meter) bis zum anderen Ufer und nehmt als Messpunkt das Holzhaus (auf Grund des Wechsels von Trocken- und Regenzeit variiert die Größe des Sees stark). Beschreibt oder dokumentiert (mit Fotos) bitte zusätzlich den momentanen Zustand des Sees (Wasserstand, Farbe des Salzschlamm (natürlich nur in der Trockenzeit),...).
An Station 3 ( S 08° 20.658 / E 116° 03.129 ) befindet ihr euch wieder am Strand und blickt wieder auf das Meer. Auch hier könnt ihr wieder zwei Inseln entdecken. Welche sind es?

Tiga pulau pasir yang layak untuk mengunjungi dan tidak hanya untuk Geocachers.
Gili Meno adalah yang terkecil dan paling tenang dari tiga pulau, namun memiliki geologi khusus "kejutan", garam danau yang indah (waktu terbaik untuk dikunjungi adalah matahari terbenam).
Sebuah danau garam (atau air asin danau) adalah perairan darat diisi dengan air asin tetapi tanpa Conection langsung ke laut. Danau garam, seperti di sini di Gili Meno, terletak di berteriak atau baskom.
