Geocache Description:

Wanaka Millennium Walkway. Head out of Wanaka towards Glendhu Bay. The turn off, just beyond Rippon Vineyard, is well sign posted.

The Wanaka Millennium Walkway is 5km long. There are several picnic spots at small sheltered beaches. Interpretation signs are situated at Slaughterhouse Creek and Ironside Hill plus an over view of the geology of the area.

The track is also part of Te Araroa, a walking trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff.

Walking times from Waterfall Creek are:
Damper Bay 5.7 km or 1.30 hours
Glendhu Bay 10.00 km or 2.30 hours
Glendhu Bay Campground 11.2 km or 2.45 hours.
Roy's Bay Recreation Reserve 2.5km or 30mins

The track can be biked.
There is a toilet near the lakefront at Waterfall Bay.

The Slaughterhouse at Slaughter House Creek supplied Wanaka with meat up until 1956. It also supplied the miners on the Cardrona diggings in the early years. The remains of the old yards are 200 - 300 metres from the lake front.

The cache is at ground level but not easily seen. It is a small sistema container inside a grey waterproof bag. When placed it contained a log, pencil, sharpener, and some swaps
