Ciceu Fortress Ruins - this city was a medieval fortress in Bistrita-Nasaud county region, in the boundary area of the territories of villages Dumbraveni Ciceu-Corabia, and Ciceu-Giurgesti.
About the appearance of the building we find out something from the only iconographic testimony, engraving of 1866, which is more a romantic than a rigorous representation of the vestiges of that date.
One of the depicted towers has on the northern side a window in Gothic style, whose shape has been preserved until now.
But the assumption that the city would have functioned as house is questionable, the tower being filled and with no signs of intervention after 1866. The second tower actually has a different position from that of engraving, being at 4 meters distance from the first tower and being suspended above the cliff.
In the southern part of the city are kept two sections of wall and in the north-east are seen the remains of defensive moat, with an opening of 3-5 meters and a wave of ground built-up in front of it. It is likely that a wall ran from the north-east of the city, until the north-west, where was linked with the Magura hill. This is linked to the city hill by a narrow lap and helped protect the construction from the west. Thickness of walls was likely between 1,3-4 meters. Overall, the building highlighted a great natural protection system, being very difficult to conquer.
